NFL Power Rankings Week 9: Philadelphia Eagles make a statement vs JAX
15. Miami Dolphins
The Miami Dolphins are a weird team.
They currently sit second in the AFC East behind those pesky New England Patriots, but they are a team trending downwards having lost two games in a row and three of their last four.
But once again, said losing streak is a bit misleading as well, as they’ve had to give extensive playing time to castaway QB Brock Osweiler after losing starter Ryan Tannehill to a Week 4 shoulder injury roughly a month prior.
In Osweiler’s first three starts, the team is 1-2 and have been thoroughly outplayed by both the Lions and the Texans in subsequent weeks.
While the team’s favors could turn around if Tannehill is again able to return to the starting lineup, who knows how big of a hole he will have to drag his team out of and if there’s even enough time left in the season to do so.
With the AFC East virtually a lock to be won by the Patriots every single season before the first game is even played, if Miami is going to make the playoffs it’s going to have to be as a Wild Card team, a challenge that’s easier said than done with a backup quarterback.
