The Philadelphia Eagles took another hit in the 2018 NFL Power Rankings for Week 8 after a tough loss at home to the Carolina Panthers on Sunday.

As a follow up to their impressive performance against the New York Giants, the Philadelphia Eagles were hoping another win on Sunday over the Carolina Panthers would result in the defending champions climbing a few spots in the 2018 NFL Power Rankings Week 8. Instead, the Eagles suffered what can only be described as a heartbreaking loss after allowing the Panthers to overcome a 17-0 deficit in the fourth quarter by allowing Cam Newton and company to find the end zone in each of their final three drives.

Losing to Carolina 21-17 was frustrating for numerous reasons, and while there were plenty of factors that stood out in this loss, it’s going to difficult to get over the poor play by Philadelphia in the fourth quarter. From Carson Wentz making a few questionable decisions on that final drive when the Eagles needed a touchdown to some players looking like they were getting the celebrations underway too early, it’s obvious why there was so much frustration after this one.

Simply, there are no valid excuses behind a tough loss like this since Philadelphia seemed to be well on their way to getting above .500 before their trip to London for a matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars, which is no longer the case.

At 3-4, the Eagles appear to be a team in desperate need of some answers since Sunday’s loss showed too many similarities to their Week 4 to the Tennessee Titans, which was another game in which they blew another commanding lead in the second half. As for how much this loss hurt Philadelphia in the latest NFL Power Rankings, well let’s not waste any more time to see where they stand heading into Week 8.
