NFL Power Rankings, Week 8: Eagles collapse in fourth quarter during loss to Panthers
By Dan Parzych
17. Philadelphia Eagles
Frustrating doesn’t even begin to describe how Eagles fans are feeling after Sunday’s loss to the Carolina Panthers since there’s absolutely no excuse for losing the way they did. Having a 17-0 lead in the fourth quarter made it seem like Philadelphia would be cruising to their fourth win of 2018, but Doug Pederson’s team learned the hard way about how a game needs to be played to the fullest, no matter what kind of lead any team has.
Allowing the Panthers to finish the game the way they did with three touchdowns on their final three drives was one thing, but seeing how terrible the Eagles looked on offense during the fourth quarter was beyond frustrating as well. From awful play calling to questionable throws by Carson Wentz, there’s a lot of blame to go around in this one.
No one ever imagined Philadelphia of all teams would be sitting below .500 at this point in the regular season, but the pressure is beginning to hit a whole new level before their upcoming trip to London. Even if the Eagles seem to have an advantage over another struggling team in the Jacksonville Jaguars, Week 7 showed there are no guarantees when it comes to the defending champions winning key games they’re supposed to.
