NFL Power Rankings, Week 8: Eagles collapse in fourth quarter during loss to Panthers
By Dan Parzych
20. Denver Broncos
This was the game the Denver Broncos desperately needed when seeing how both the offense and defense were clicking in their 45-10 win over the Arizona Cardinals to finally put an end to their four-game losing streak. For the most part, the Broncos’ offense has been a major disappointment since the signing of Case Keenum was supposed to make the unit more consistent each week, but the defense deserves the most credit for taking advantage of the situation against the Cardinals.
Facing an inexperienced rookie quarterback like Josh Rosen tends to work out for a defense like Denver, and seeing how they recorded two interceptions for touchdowns in the first quarter shows just how quickly this game was out of Arizona’s control. With more performances like this, maybe the Broncos will have an actual shot at becoming a contender in the AFC, although that’s always easier said than done.
As for the offense, Keenum’s numbers (161 passing yards with one interception) may not have stood out as much, but also keep in mind the Broncos weren’t in need of passing the football that much with a comfortable lead for most of the game. Now, the question becomes whether Denver can carry this momentum over into next weekend when they face a much tougher battle in the Kansas City Chiefs, who have already beaten the Broncos once this year.
