Find a balance on offense

Last week, the Eagles had their best offensive output of the season, putting up 34 points in the win. In that game, the Eagles had 29 designed run plays, compared to 37 pass plays. It may not have been a perfect 50/50 split, but it was still a good balance, something the Eagles need to continue on Sunday.

The Eagles have been at their best when their run, pass disparity is not overly skewed. Philadelphia may not have a ‘star’ running back, but the duo of Corey Clement and Wendell Smallwood has been very adequate this year.

There have been murmurs about the Eagles adding a star running back, and if that happens then it would be easier to run the ball more. But, the guys the Eagles have in their backfield should be plenty sufficient to have a good game on the ground on Sunday.

The Eagles are at their best when they run the ball, and do it successfully. Establishing the ground game and finding a balance will make Eagles’ quarterback Carson Wentz‘s day a whole lot easier. That is something worth paying attention to on Sunday.

Having Carolina respect the run will slow down their pass rush and allow for the Eagles to make some plays through the air. The Panthers rank 15th in the league in rushing defense, giving up 102.4 yards per game, so it should not be an overall too challenging task for the Eagles to run the ball and find a balance on offense.
