Philadelphia Eagles trade deadline primer: Running backs edition
By Pete Long
LeSean McCoy (Buffalo Bills)
Boy, this one would be tough to say no to.
I immediately resort back to high school me laying on the couch wrapped in my Eagles comforter watching LeSean McCoy take what would be a loss of five and turn it into a 50 yard gain. Were it not for the egotistical misery of a “coach” and “GM” that was Chip Kelly, I wholeheartedly believe that McCoy would still be rocking the midnight green.
His skills transitioned to Buffalo quite nicely. Shady rushed for over 1,000 yards in each of the past two seasons and had a massive season with 13 touchdowns in 2016. However, this season he has failed to rush for 100 yards let alone score a touchdown.
As a naive kid, I never paid attention to anything McCoy did aside from tearing it up on the field.
McCoy has an extensive history of off-field issues dating back to his time in Philly, and that traveled with his talents to Buffalo. McCoy is in the midst of an incredibly messed up domestic abuse case and there can be no part of that in Philadelphia.
The league lets far too many offenders off the hook in these types of cases, but McCoy could be handed disciplinary action. More importantly, the Eagles do not need this type of character anywhere near their locker room.
