Here are four running back trade rumors that have been floating around the Philadelphia Eagles following the news of Jay Ajayi suffering a torn ACL.

To say the first five weeks of the 2018 season have been brutal for the Philadelphia Eagles when looking at the team not only has a 2-3 record at the moment, but also has been dealing with numerous key injuries on both sides of the football. This week, Jay Ajayi was the latest victim of the injury bug after it was announced on Monday the running back would miss the remainder of the season after suffering a torn ACL against the Minnesota Vikings, putting the team in a difficult position.

Expectations were high for Ajayi heading into the 2018 season as the team’s No. 1 running back, and this will certainly put Philadelphia in an interesting position in the offseason when it comes to what to potentially do over his contract situation. Ajayi was a key part of Philadelphia’s success last season when they won their first Super Bowl title in franchise history, and having him sidelined for the rest of the year is a crushing blow to the ground game.

Dating back to last season, the Eagles took the approach of riding the hot hand at running back, which worked wonders since players like Ajayi were unselfish over the decisions since the most important factor was the team was winning games.

Despite Philadelphia having a few likely candidates capable of stepping up in Ajayi’s absence, there has been plenty of talk surrounding the possibility of the Eagles pulling off a big trade to bring another top running back on board. And knowing Howie Roseman, no one would be surprised one bit if the team were able to pull the unthinkable by making it happen before the deadline.
