3. Chicago Bears

When it comes to the biggest surprises from the 2018 season, the Chicago Bears emerging as a serious contender in the NFC ranks right near the top of the list when looking at how great of a job Matt Nagy has done in such a short period of time. Reaching out to the Oakland Raiders before the start of the regular season about Khalil Mack has worked wonders for this defense, and seeing how he’s recorded a sack each game shows just how special of a player he truly is.

However, as great as the defense has looked so far in four games, the one highlight that stood out before the bye week was Mitch Trubisky making a huge statement during his six-touchdown performance in a win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Chicago made it a top priority in the offseason to build a better offense around their young quarterback, and despite some early questions, Trubisky came alive during his breakout performance in Week 4.

Now, the question becomes whether Trubisky can continue this momentum moving forward to put the Bears in much better shape when it comes to the NFC North race. Just because Chicago looks good now doesn’t necessarily mean it’s going to last, and the time has come for Trubisky to show he is in fact the real deal.
