2018 NFL Power Rankings Week 6: Eagles lose tough battle of NFC Championship rematch
By Dan Parzych
15. Detroit Lions
This season has been a disappointment for the most part for the Detroit Lions when looking at how many crushing losses this team has already been handed, but at least Matt Patricia’s squad has to be feeling good about Sunday’s win over the Green Bay Packers. Right away, the Lions wasted no time making an impact against their division rivals after building an impressive 24-0 lead before halftime, although the end results were closer than they should have been.
Allowing Green Bay to comeback in the second half was frustrating to see since there’s no excuse for Detroit to only win this game 31-23, but also at least they still ended up hanging on for the victory to work their way closer to a .500 record. To say this season has been a roller coaster would be an understatement for the Lions when looking at all of the ups and downs, but a win like on Sunday shows why they were viewed as a potential sleeper in the NFC.
Of course, the difficult task moving forward for Detroit is building off a win like this to avoid taking another step back. At least from Matthew Stafford’s perspective, the Lions quarterback must be thrilled over finally having some reliable support in the backfield for a change unlike previous seasons.
