30. San Francisco 49ers

Losing Jimmy Garoppolo to a torn ACL was a crushing blow for the San Francisco 49ers when looking at all of the excitement surrounding this team after ending last year on a positive note, but at least C.J. Beathard provides them with some hope for the rest of this season. As bad as it sounds, there were plenty of 49ers fans that didn’t feel too confident over Beathard taking over the starting role in Garoppolo’s absence, and even though it was only one game, it was a pretty solid outing for the young quarterback.

Throwing two interceptions was concerning, but seeing Beathard throw for 298 yards with two touchdowns to give the Los Angeles Chargers a bit of a scare should make San Francisco feel much more confident about the offense. Garoppolo’s presence always seemed to bring the best out of his teammates, and his leadership seems irreplaceable, and it will be interesting to see how Beathard follows up Sunday’s performance in Week 5 when the team takes on the Arizona Cardinals.

Since the Cardinals are winless, this is the perfect opportunity for Beathard to come through with a hard fought win. At 1-3, San Francisco needs all of the wins they can get right now just to have a fighting chance in the NFC.
