23. Detroit Lions

Just when it seemed like the Detroit Lions were going to escape with the thrilling win on the road over the Dallas Cowboys, the defense failed to step up when needed the most in the final minutes before Brett Maher converted the game-winning field goal from 38 yards out. All of a sudden, the Lions have found a way to dig themselves a deeper hole when seeing how the team sits at the bottom of the NFC North with a 1-3 record.

Many expected Detroit to carry their confidence over from Week 3 when they upset the New England Patriots, and while it seemed to be working that way at times, all that matters is the team ended up on the losing end. Hiring Matt Patricia as the new head coach was supposed to help the Lions return to the level of being a top contender in the NFC once again, but it’s clear this team still has a long way to go.

What’s even more frustrating to see was the solid outing by Golden Tate go to complete waste after the Lions wideout caught eight passes for 132 yards with two scores. Unless Detroit figures out a way to quickly turn things around, their 2018 season could be over sooner than expected since it’s not going to get any easier from here.
