2018 NFL Power Rankings Week 4: Eagles earn tough win in Carson Wentz’s return
By Dan Parzych
27. Cleveland Browns
After all of the waiting and wondering when it was going to happen, the Cleveland Browns finally earned their first victory since the end of the 2016 season by pulling off an epic comeback on Thursday night football during their 21-17 win over the New York Jets. All hope seemed lost for the Browns when they found themselves trailing 14-3 at halftime, but luckily Baker Mayfield came in to save the day, and will most likely be the team’s starter moving forward after seeing the spark the rookie provided on offense.
Expectations were high for the former Oklahoma star when Cleveland selected Mayfield with the top overall pick back in April, and even though he will enter Week 4 still in search of his first NFL touchdown pass, it was his leadership that stood out against New York. Nobody needs to explain just how desperate this Browns team has been over the years when it comes to finding a potential quarterback to build the franchise around, and it was only one game, but Mayfield has this fan base all fired up over what the future could hold.
Nothing against Tyrod Taylor since it was difficult to see him exit with an injury, but Mayfield should have been in under center from the start. At least moving forward, the veteran will at least be a solid mentor to the rookie quarterback.
