28. San Francisco 49ers

Heading into Sunday’s game, the San Francisco 49ers knew they would be in for a difficult battle against the Kansas City Chiefs since the argument can be made Andy Reid has the hottest team in football right now. But if Jimmy Garoppolo is going to be out for an extended period of time, this could be a crushing blow for a 49ers team that was hoping to be a surprise contender in the NFC.

After Garoppolo led the team to a hot finish at the end of last season by leading San Francisco to a 5-0 record once he took over the starting role, the team wasted no time in the offseason locking him up to a long-term deal, even if it did seem like a risky move. Once Garoppolo was carted off during Sunday’s loss to the Chiefs, all the 49ers and their fans can do is hope for the best with their beloved quarterback.

Otherwise, one can only imagine how difficult it’s going to be for San Francisco to compete in the NFC in 2018 since Garoppolo’s presence made a huge difference for the team on offense. Garoppolo’s numbers may not stand out like some of the other quarterbacks across the league, but there’s just something special about the way he plays that tends to bring out the best in his 49ers teammates.
