2018 NFL Power Rankings Week 4: Eagles earn tough win in Carson Wentz’s return
By Dan Parzych
5. Philadelphia Eagles
Whether he wanted to deal with it or not, all eyes were on Wentz during Sunday’s game for the Eagles against the Colts to see how the former first-round pick would do under center during his first game since last December. Sloppy conditions or not, Philadelphia knows Wentz still has a long way to go when it comes to playing at the level the offense needs him to be on, especially if the team is going to have any chance at repeating as Super Bowl champions.
Between the two turnovers along with the missed opportunities to put up points, Wentz did look shaky for the Eagles at times on offense, but also came up big on numerous occasions when needed the most. Not to mention, the most important factor of all is Philadelphia ended up on the winning end to avoid additional pressure of entering Week 4 with a record below .500, which nobody wanted to see.
On paper, a matchup against a team like Indianapolis was supposed to give Philadelphia a huge advantage, and margin of victory most likely would have been larger if the weather was better. Still, the Eagles are one of those teams that is difficult to figure out at the moment when looking at all of the injuries this team is dealing with, and here’s to hoping that Wentz continues to progress with experience, or it’s going to be difficult for Philadelphia to be competitive on offense.
