2018 NFL Power Rankings Week 4: Eagles earn tough win in Carson Wentz’s return
By Dan Parzych
11. Atlanta Falcons
Make that two tough losses by the Atlanta Falcons in three weeks after the team lost another tough battle to a playoff contender from last season, with the latest coming on Sunday at home to the New Orleans Saints. It’s not often that Matt Ryan and company end up on the losing end of a game in which the Falcons quarterback finished with five touchdown passes, but this was exactly the case for Week 3.
Deep down, Atlanta knew this was going to be a difficult battle against their division rivals, and seeing New Orleans tie the game up in the final two minutes before going on to win in overtime was a crushing blow to Dan Quinn’s squad. Just like their season opener on the road when they lost to the Philadelphia Eagles, the Falcons were in a great position to end up on the winning end, and could easily be sitting at 3-0 instead of 1-2 before Week 4.
Even more frustrating, Atlanta allowed a stellar game by Calvin Ridley (seven catches for 146 yards with three scores) go to complete waste since it didn’t result in the most important factor in the win column. Then again, when seeing the toughness the Falcons are bringing to the table each week, the good news is this team continues to show signs of being able to compete in the NFC for a third year in a row.
