2018 NFL Power Rankings Week 4: Eagles earn tough win in Carson Wentz’s return

15. New England Patriots
Normally, a loss like they suffered in Week 2 would result in the New England Patriots coming out firing the following game, and everyone assumed that would be the case during Sunday’s contest when facing the Detroit Lions. Not to mention, the Patriots were expected to be playing with a little extra motivation since they would be facing a familiar face in Matt Patricia, who took the head coaching job with the Lions in the offseason.
So how did it all turn out for New England on Sunday night? Well, let’s just say all of the concerns surrounding the Patriots on offense with being short at wide receiver caught up in a big way during their 26-10 loss. All of a sudden, the Patriots are sitting at 1-2 for just the third time in Bill Belichick’s career, and while it’s easy to say all will get better once Josh Gordon plays or Julian Edelman returns, who really knows what to expect from this team.
Brady and the Patriots have looked like anything but the team that is always a lock to be a Super Bowl contender over the last two weeks. And with the team currently trailing the Miami Dolphins by two games in the AFC East standings, it’s not going to get any easier for New England since they take on Adam Gase’s squad in Week 4.
