21. Detroit Lions

First off, before any fans of the Detroit Lions point out how this team is way too low on this list after coming off a huge win over the defending AFC champions in the New England Patriots, keep in mind how this was only one win, and the team still has a lot to prove. Still, when seeing how much the Lions had struggled for the most part leading up to this Sunday night meeting with the Patriots, Matt Patricia has plenty of reasons to smile after taking down his former team.

Detroit’s defense deserves plenty of credit for the way they kept Tom Brady in check for the most part, but when it comes to the highlights of the game, seeing the offense finally finish with a 100-yard rusher in Kerryon Johnson was huge to see happen. For years, the Lions were always heavily criticized for their lack of a ground game, and when taking into consideration that Johnson was the first one to reach the 100-yard milestone for the first time since 2013, it’s easy to understand why they took so much heat.

Now, the question becomes whether Johnson and the rest of his teammates at running back can figure out a way to be consistent on the ground. If that does end up happening, Detroit will have a much better chance at continuing to win key games like the one on Sunday.
