25. New York Jets

All of that hype surrounding the New York Jets being a potential surprise contender in the AFC could still end up happening, but also could very well end up being a work in progress when looking at how different this team looked in less than a week. Expectations were high for the Jets heading into their meeting with the Miami Dolphins after roughing up the Detroit Lions on the road less than a week before, but unfortunately the results were much different this time.

Instead of New York’s defense picking Ryan Tannehill apart or Sam Darnold looking like anything but a rookie, the Jets were the perfect example of too little, too late in this one. The fact that New York outscored Miami 12-0 in the second half, and still ended up on the losing end shows how poorly the team played over the first two quarters.

Then again, isn’t this what most football fans expected from the Jets once the announcement was made that Darnold would be the starter? Nothing against the former USC star, but it was clear in the preseason that Darnold is going to be a work in progress, and the main focus this year for New York will be getting him as much experience as possible to speed up the process.
