2. Kansas City Chiefs

Back in the offseason, the Kansas City Chiefs pulled off a major surprise when they decided to move on from Alex Smith sooner than expected to begin the Patrick Mahomes II era during the 2018 season. The Chiefs knew during the draft in 2017 that it would only be a matter of time before Mahomes took over the starting role, but seeing him become the starter this fast seemed to come out of nowhere.

Turns out, Mahomes was arguably the best thing that could have happened to Kansas City on offense when looking at how the youngster already has 10 touchdown passes over his first two meaningful starts, including six from this past weekend against the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Chiefs did an unbelievable job at setting Mahomes up for success when looking at the offense build around him with weapons like Travis Kelce and Tyreek Hill, but whether they expected him to make this quick of an impact is a different story.

What’s even crazier to consider is Mahomes has been able to find this much success while playing both games on the road. With the San Francisco 49ers coming to town, one can only imagine how fired up that Kansas City crowd is going to be come Sunday.
