2018 NFL Power Rankings Week 3: Eagles hope return of Carson Wentz brings spark

7. New England Patriots
First off, is anyone really surprised to see the New England Patriots end up being the ones that ended up landing Josh Gordon after things failed to work out with the Cleveland Browns? When looking at their history of bringing the best out of troubled players while keeping them in check, it seems like only a matter of time before Gordon is tearing it up on offense with Tom Brady and the Patriots.
Now that the Gordon mention is out of the way, New England doesn’t always receive a big wake up call since they’re always one of the top contenders in the AFC, but that was exactly the case in Week 2 during their loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Patriots knew they were going to be in for quite the battle with the Jaguars’ defense, but this game showed the AFC isn’t going to be smooth sailing like previous years.
Luckily for New England, Brady is one of the most competitive players in the league, and there’s every reason to believe he will have this team back on track in no time. Brady has always been the kind of player that makes his teammates better, and no matter what it takes, he’ll find a way to make sure they finish as one of the top teams in the AFC.
