3. Dallas Goedert

There weren’t many Eagles fans that believed the team would go with a tight end of all positions with their first pick in April’s draft since the position wasn’t as big of a need, but Dallas Goedert seemed too good of an opportunity to pass on. With his enormous size along with playmaking abilities, just the thought of the rookie tight end playing alongside Zach Ertz made it seem like Philadelphia would end up with a huge steal in Goedert.

While that could very well still end up being the case, Goedert seems to be dealing with some of the early struggles most rookies deal with while adjusting to playing in the NFL, and it’s shown over the last few weeks. Take a look at the opener against the Falcons in which Goedert was only able to haul in one pass for four yards, and was responsible for a dropped pass that resulted in an interception by Atlanta’s defense.

As the Eagles continue to deal with injuries at receiver, and wait for others to step up, Sunday’s game in Tampa Bay is another perfect opportunity for Goedert to step up while showing he was worth the second-round selection. Teams with effective pass-catching tight ends tend to have a huge advantage over their opponents, and for Philadelphia, they could end up with two on their roster if Goedert begins to come around.
