Jay Ajayi may be the Philadelphia Eagles bell cow running back, but it looks like he may have found a very lucrative second career in advertising

When the Philadelphia Eagles decided to send a fourth-round pick to the Miami Dolphins for Jay Ajayi on the trade deadline last fall, they had to foresee him as the missing piece to a championship roster. But who would have imagined Ajayi would take on a very serious second career in advertising?

Now granted, anytime a team like the Eagles vaults themselves from the middle of the pack into a legitimate NFL pacemaker it’s going to create some stars, but it’s almost remarkable how quickly the J-train has caught on both with the fans in Philly and nationwide.

Don’t look now, will Philly may have found an unlikely superstar.

Sure, Ajayi appears almost tailor-made to become a fan favorite, as he’s one of the league’s premier young rushers who just so happens to have a pretty sweet British accent, but it’s still surreal to see our boy in a commercial next to Jimmy Fallon and Eli Manning (ew) on NBC.

Yerp.

But what’s next for Ajayi? Between his Fallon commercial, his ‘Get Ready to Celebrate‘ spot, and oh yeah, the 2018 NFL season, it’s clear Jay’s going to be busy over the next few months, but could Philly have finally found it’s next great advertiser?

Sure, Joel Embiid has had a number of national commercials, most notably for Jolly Ranchers, but not since the days of Donovan McNabb‘s Mama-filled Campbell’s Soup commercials have we had a player transform himself from a simple football star into a bona fide national sensation.

Ajay he can do that and so much more.

As one of only a handful of English-born players to make it in the NFL, Ajayi has helped to cultivate a pretty strong Eagles following abroad, ties that will surely come out in droves when the team makes their England debut later this season against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Jay could have an international reach that few other NFL players have been able to boast.

Though his future in the City of Brotherly Love is a bit up in the air, as it’s possible the team may not want to invest big money in a player with his extensive injury history, but for the next year at least, Philly fans should look forward to seeing their team’s star running back all over the TV screen, but not just on Sundays.
