2018 NFL Power Rankings Week 2: Eagles barely hold off Falcons
By Dan Parzych
26. Cleveland Browns
The Cleveland Browns have put together plenty of disappointing losses over the years during games they arguably should have won, and even though Sunday’s game wasn’t technically a loss, it still felt like one. Just when it seemed like the Browns were going to pull off the unthinkable in overtime against the Pittsburgh Steelers by connecting on a game-winning field goal from 43 yards out, it was blocked.
What’s even more crazy to think about following the 21-21 tie against their division rivals is thinking how Cleveland has recorded just as many ties since the 2016 season as wins with their 1-31-1 record since Hue Jackson came into the picture. Sure, the argument can be made that the Browns should be thrilled over tying the Steelers instead of suffering another loss, but when seeing how close they came to pulling off the win, it still doesn’t make this feeling any easier to accept.
Then again, if Cleveland does want to look at a few positive factors to consider moving forward, the team has a whole should feel confident over how they looked on both sides of the football following an offseason of improving on both offense and defense. Jackson’s team still has a long way to go, but at least the Browns seem capable of avoiding what happened last year by winning some games in 2018.
