2018 NFL Power Rankings Week 2: Eagles barely hold off Falcons
By Dan Parzych
30. Indianapolis Colts
Go figure that Andrew Luck’s first official recorded pass attempt during the regular season since returning from a shoulder injury happened to go for an interception during Sunday’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals. But from an overall perspective, the Indianapolis Colts must feel relieved to see the kind of performance Luck put together in his return to make the team feel slightly better about their quarterback situation.
One can only imagine what would have happened late in the fourth quarter if Jack Doyle didn’t fumble that football when the Colts had great momentum driving down the field, but unfortunately these are the kind of mistakes that make a huge difference in games. By stripping Doyle, Cincinnati was able to seal the deal by returning the fumble for a touchdown, crushing any chance of Indianapolis putting together a game-winning drive.
However, if the Colts want to take away a positive outcome from Sunday’s loss, it would be Luck finishing the game by completing 39 of 53 passes for 319 yards with two touchdowns, and that interception from the beginning of the first quarter. By showing signs of his old self, at least quarterback won’t be an issue with a healthy Luck like it was last season.
