1. Foles gets win, despite some struggles

After pulling the unthinkable last season by helping the Eagles bring home their first Super Bowl title in franchise history along with taking home MVP honors from the game, a contest like Thursday wouldn’t seem as big of a deal to a quarterback like Nick Foles. Since the Philadelphia quarterback already won the biggest game possible in the NFL, the team felt confident enough in his ability to come through against Atlanta in the opener while filling in for Carson Wentz, even if he didn’t exactly put together the best performances in the preseason.

While the interception shouldn’t be viewed as his fault since it was a dropped pass by Dallas Goedert in the second half, seeing Foles finish the game by completing 19 of 34 passes for 117 yards doesn’t seem like the most confident factor in the world. But when seeing how it was enough to get the Eagles a win in Week 1, this all that truly matters.

Plus, it should also be noted that Atlanta’s defense as a whole played well enough as a unit to prevent Foles from putting together a MVP type of performance like he did last January and February. At least with a win under his belt heading into Week 2, Foles should be feeling a lot more confident if needed for that second meeting of 2018 against the Buccaneers, and will hopefully benefit from the extra time off as well.
