Here are four key takeaways for the Philadelphia Eagles following their 18-12 win over the Atlanta Falcons on Thursday during Week 1.

Lincoln Financial Field was rocking on Thursday with the Philadelphia Eagles playing for the first time since taking home their first Super Bowl title in franchise history last February, as it was a nigh of celebrations all around. The game in general may not have been the best performance by the defending champions, but at the end of the day, the Eagles held on for the 18-12 win over the Atlanta Falcons to start the new season 1-0, and will now have more than a week off before their next game on the road when facing the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

When looking a the preseason for Doug Pederson‘s team, this was one of those games in which nobody knew what to truly expect after a shaky preseason that showed this team had plenty of questions still in need of answering before Week 1, especially in the injury department. However, Philadelphia deserves plenty of credit for coming through when it mattered the most against Atlanta on Thursday, and top off the excitement, fans even got to see another play similar to the “Philly Special” called “Philly Philly” in the second half, which absolutely electrified the crowd.
