The Philadelphia Eagles get set to kick off the 2018 NFL season when they play host to the Atlanta Falcons on the NFL`s opening night.

Football is back! For the first time since capturing their first Super Bowl back in February, the Philadelphia Eagles will play in a real football game, as the quest to defend the Lombardi Trophy officially gets underway this Thursday night.

This is the first full game preview I have written since the Super Bowl, and it feels so good to be back! I am sure the rest of Eagles nation cannot wait for the kickoff of the 2018 season as well.

As the Super Bowl champions, the Eagles get to host the kickoff game of the NFL season. All eyes will be on the city of brotherly love come Thursday night, and there will be a lot to pay attention to both pre-game and once this game gets underway.

Coming into town for the opener will be the Atlanta Falcons, the team who the Eagles beat in the Divisional Round back in January. As we all remember, that game came down to one last fourth down where a Matt Ryan pass intended for Julio Jones fell incomplete, resulting in a 15-10 Eagles victory and a trip to the NFC Championship game.

So for the first time in team history, Philadelphia will open the season as Super Bowl champions, and before Thursday`s game, we will get to see the Eagles unveil their first ever Super Bowl championship banner at Lincoln Financial Field.

But once all of the pre-game ceremonies have concluded, there is a game to play and last season’s results will not help in terms of winning this game. The Eagles must be ready for the challenge that lies ahead, as they go from the hunters to the hunted.

To help prepare for opening night, let’s look at a preview of what to expect from Philadelphia and Atlanta as they look to move to 1-0 on the season.
