2. Quarterback situation is what fans expected

Any Eagles fan that thought Christian Hackenberg actually had a chance of making this team most likely hasn’t been following the team at all since the quarterback situation seemed to be set for weeks. For months, Philadelphia was viewed as the team with the best quarterback situation as a result of Wentz and Foles while Nate Sudfeld has already displayed enough potential to be viewed as the team’s backup preference for the future.

Despite watching him take home Super Bowl MVP honors last February, the Eagles know it’s only a matter of time before Foles decides to either call it a NFL career or simply decides he would prefer to be the full-time starter on another team instead of backing up Wentz. So when that time does come, Philadelphia hopes the transition to his replacement will be much easier to deal with by continuing to develop Sudfeld.

In a way, Sudfeld is living the dream right now since he already has a Super Bowl ring, and knows he can patiently wait to be the team’s next full-time backup. Some teams don’t always keep three quarterbacks on the 53-man roster, but for the Eagles, this was an easy decision that nobody was surprised to see.
