4. Means gets cut

Heading into the weekend, there were plenty of bubble players from Philadelphia worth keeping an eye on to see if they would be part of the final roster cuts, and near the top of that list was defensive end Steven Means. Throughout the preseason, Means was considered a player that seemed like he was going to squeeze his way into one of the roster spots on defense, and seeing him record three sacks in the preseason finale seemed to be the icing on the cake.

Even if all three of those sacks came against backups of the New York Jets fighting for a roster spot as well, anytime a player can record that many in one game is quite impressive, and Means had plenty to be proud of during this performance. Unfortunately, the impressive statistics turned out to be a classic case of too little, too late for Means, as he was one of the players that came up short of making the cut on Saturday.

Without question, the decision to move on from Means was probably one of the toughest decisions Philadelphia had to make as an organization, but also the Eagles need to do what’s best for the team at the end of the day. On a positive note, at least Means was able to earn a Super Bowl ring by being part of the team before his time in Philadelphia came to an end this weekend.
