2. Claude Giroux-Sean Couturier-Jakub Voracek

As another combination that was actually used by Hakstol this past season, line pairing produced and produced a lot.

The Giroux, Couturier, and Voracek line posted the highest Relative Corsi-For percentage and the second highest CF% and GF% of any of the lines the Flyers deployed that played 100 minutes TOI together at even strength, per Corsica Hockey.

This line also carried the Flyers offense to start the season. They were even considered by some members of the media to be one of the best line trios in the entire NHL at the time. The chemistry they had, like the line previously mentioned, was uncanny. The difference being these three have been on the same team together for years now. They obviously know each other and what their tendencies are on the ice. Why split that up?

Lack of scoring depth throughout the other lines is what caused the coach to change the combination last season. With the signing of JVR and emerging, young prospects waiting in the wings, that shouldn’t be a worry for the team going forward. Injuries do happen, but I think there’s enough forward depth to cover for them barring a catastrophe.
