Philadelphia Eagles: 5 reasons Nick Foles should start over Carson Wentz in Week 1
By Dan Parzych
3. Pederson has fixed Foles in limited time before
Philadelphia is one of those teams that is beyond thankful that it’s only preseason when seeing how they’ve failed to win a single game in three attempts while looking horrendous for the most part on offense. As great as this time can be for players looking to make a name for themselves to earn one of the roster spots, the Eagles know the outcomes of these games could have been much different if certain starters had played, and so many key players weren’t dealing with injuries, including Foles.
Playing Foles in the team’s most recent game against the Cleveland Browns could be viewed as a mistake since the Super Bowl MVP suffered a shoulder strain the week before, and even sat out the preseason opener due to upper body soreness. All of this along with how Foles looked (three turnovers against the Browns) has left some Philadelphia fans with an uneasy feeling over how their quarterback would be when the games mattered the most, but also this is similar to the end of last season.
Remember how concerned some fans were over the thought of Foles leading this team on offense in the playoffs after struggling for the most part during the final few games of the regular season? Thanks to some key coaching adjustments by Pederson, it all worked out for the best with the Eagles.
