5. Wentz still isn’t cleared for contact

When taking all of the key factors into consideration over whether Wentz would be ready to go for that first game against the Falcons, the one that sticks out the most is the fact that it’s the last week in August, and he still hasn’t been cleared for contact. In fact, Pederson became quite frustrated a couple of days with reporters over the constant questions surrounding the Eagles quarterback, although it can be easy to see why since he’s been dealing with them for months.

Still, just the fact alone that Philadelphia’s preseason finale against New York is only a few days away, and Wentz hasn’t even been cleared for contact at this point makes him seem like a long shot to be the starter. Not to mention, if Wentz can’t even be cleared for contact before Friday, this means Pederson’s decision is going to be an easy one since he will have no other choice but to go with Foles for that first game.

Once Wentz becomes clear for contact, that of course will change the entire situation when it comes to which player Pederson decides to go with under center. Until Wentz is cleared though, Foles is the only option in the mean time.
