3. Carter makes case for roster spot

Over the last two weeks, there’s been a lot of talk surrounding Shelton Gibson, and how the young wideout has been making a strong case to be the No. 5 receiver on the roster with impressive performances against the Pittsburgh Steelers along with New England Patriots. However, the one receiver that stood out in a big way against the Browns was arguably DeAndre Carter not just because of what he did on offense, but special teams as well.

While the 29-yard punt return was impressive, it was the effort made by Carter on offense with his four catches for 73 yards that has caught the attention of Philadelphia’s coaching staff heading into their final week of preseason. With the Eagles being his fifth team since coming to the NFL in 2015, there’s nothing Carter would love more than to earn a spot on the roster for the defending champions, although he may need another strong outing in Week 4.

This time of year is made for underrated players like Carter to make a name for themselves, but also he still has a long way to go. After seeing how awful this game was for the most part against Cleveland, at least Carter was one of the few players that found a way to impress a little bit.
