Philadelphia Eagles: 5 takeaways from loss to Cleveland Browns in preseason
By Dan Parzych
Here are five takeaways from the Philadelphia Eagles during their embarrassing loss to the Cleveland Browns in Week 3 of the preseason.
Thank goodness it’s only preseason for the Philadelphia Eagles after seeing the awful performance put together by the defending Super Bowl champions in Week 3 of the preseason against the Cleveland Browns. Leading up to the game, the Eagles knew they would be going through some adjustments as a result of injuries and Doug Pederson simply wanting to rest certain players, but nobody could have predicted they would go on to lose to the Browns 5-0.
That’s right, Philadelphia was shutout by the team that failed to win a single game all of last season, and only has one win since Hue Jackson came on board in 2016, although the argument can be made that things would have been much different had this been the regular season. Still, the Eagles entered Thursday’s game looking to make a statement following a tough loss last week to the New England Patriots that there was no reason for concern heading into the team’s first meeting of 2018 against the Atlanta Falcons.
Obviously, there is plenty of time from now until that first Thursday game against the Falcons for the Eagles to make the necessary adjustments, but a loss his bad to the Browns in the preseason is going to take some time to get over. In what can only be described as a game to forget to drop their preseason record to 0-3, here are five takeaways on Philadelphia’s end from their embarrassing loss to Cleveland in the preseason to consider over the next week or so.
