18. San Francisco 49ers

After finishing as one of the hottest teams in the NFL last season by winning each of their final five games, all eyes will be on the San Francisco 49ers heading into 2018 to see if they continue to stay hot or struggle to live up to the hype. Acquiring Jimmy Garoppolo in the middle of last season was the best decision the 49ers could have made when looking at how much he makes his teammates better, and San Francisco made a bold move rewarding him with that hefty contract, but it seems like the right move.

The Niners had been one of those teams in desperate need of help at the quarterback position before landing Garoppolo, and he’s going to be the key factor if this team has a shot at making the playoffs. Garoppolo has decent for the most part so far in the preseason, and it will be interesting to see how he performs in the team’s next meeting with the Colts.

Everyone knows the third game of preseason is viewed as a dress rehearsal, and even though Garoppolo’s job isn’t in jeopardy, a strong outing will make San Francisco feel a little extra confident heading into Week 1. For years, Garoppolo wanted an opportunity to be the starter, and seeing him continue to enjoy the opportunity will be great for everyone involved.
