2018 NFL Power Rankings: Eagles no longer on top after Week 2 of preseason
By Dan Parzych
See where the Philadelphia Eagles ended up in the latest 2018 NFL Power Rankings after Week 2 of preseason.
Over the last couple of months, it’s been easy to make a case for the Philadelphia Eagles to remain on top of the 2018 NFL Power Rankings since they’re not only defending Super Bowl champions, but also arguably in better shape talent wise. To give them a better chance of living up to the hype, the Eagles have done a phenomenal job at making sure the necessary talent is there on both sides of the football, but as the last few weeks have shown, injuries have become a concern for Doug Pederson‘s squad.
Take the team’s recent preseason game against the New England Patriots for instance when Nick Foles, who had missed the first game against the Pittsburgh Steelers due to upper body soreness, left with a shoulder strain, putting some fans into panic mode. Despite Foles coming out right away, and the injury being diagnosed as only minor, keep in mind that Philadelphia is already trying to determine if Carson Wentz will even be healthy enough to return for that Week 1 meeting against the Atlanta Falcons.
All along, Foles has been the backup plan to start for the Eagles under center if Wentz is unable to go, but if both quarterbacks are questionable heading into Week 1, it’s only going to cause more uncertainty for the defending champions on their quest to win back-to-back titles. As for what all this means for Philadelphia in the latest NFL Power Rankings after Week 2 of preseason, take a look to see where they stand at the moment before Thursday’s meeting with the Cleveland Browns.
