1. Sudfeld looked amazing under center

With the Eagles being fortunate enough to have one of the best quarterback situations in the NFL thanks to Wentz and Foles, the preseason was going to be the perfect opportunity for Nate Sudfeld to show off his skills by receiving lots of action. Even though he doesn’t have that much NFL experience, Philadelphia has rewarded Sudfeld with plenty of high praise, and seems hopeful that he’s going to be the backup quarterback of the future when the time comes for Foles to no longer be part of the picture, whether it’s from retirement or simply playing for another team.

Last week against the Steelers, Sudfeld found a way to overcome two interceptions to still finish the game with 140 passing yards to go along with two touchdowns. Heading into Thursday’s game against the Patriots, the Eagles were hoping to see a similar performance from their third-string quarterback, if not better.

If there were one major takeaway from this loss to New England, it would be that it’s easy to see why Philadelphia is so high on Sudfeld after watching him complete 22 of 39 passes for 312 yards with three touchdowns. Nothing against Joe Callahan and Christian Hackenberg, but these two don’t have a chance at beating out Sudfeld.
