2. Foles struggles, gets hurt

One week after resting against the Steelers as a result of upper body soreness leading up to the game, the argument can be made that Philadelphia would have been better off just resting Nick Foles for a second year in a row. When seeing how Foles will forever be a legend after helping the franchise bring home their first Super Bowl title, the quarterback doesn’t need the reps as much as some of the other players on the Eagles need to.

Even if Doug Pederson can make the case that he wanted to make sure Foles wouldn’t be rusty come Week 1 if he were needed to fill in for Carson Wentz if the former first-round pick is unable to go, playing the Super Bowl MVP against the Patriots appeared to be a major mistake. Not only did Foles look like a complete disappointment for the most part after completing just 3 of 9 passes for 44 yards with a fumble that was returned for at touchdown, but also he would end up leaving the game earlier than expected with a shoulder strain.

Just imagine the anxiety among Philadelphia fans if the injury by Foles ended up being worse than expected since the situation with Wentz already has them on the edge of their seats. Moving forward, let’s hope this was the last of Foles in the preseason to make sure he’s going to be healthy enough for Week 1, whether it’s as a starter or backup.
