3. Philadelphia’s defense still has work to do

Remember how frustrating it was at times to watch the Eagles’ defense last week against the Steelers when seeing how they allowed them to score 31 points, and made all sorts of mistakes? Well, let’s just say the frustration seemed to carry over into Week 2 against New England when seeing how Philadelphia struggled for the most part when it came to preventing them from scoring.

Allowing the Patriots to score 27 points before halftime even rolled around shows how rough of an outing this was for the Eagles, and Jim Schwartz faces even more pressure to help his unit turn things around before September when the games matter the most. Stellar play on defense was one of the main reasons behind Philadelphia’s successful Super Bowl run last season, and the only chance they’re going to have at repeating is if the unit ranks near the top of the league once again.

Unlike previous years, the Eagles enter a new season with targets on their backs as one of the top teams to beat coming off their first Super Bowl win in franchise history. As frustrating as it’s been to watch Philadelphia on defense for the most part, at least there’s every reason to feel confident about Schwartz working with his players over these next few weeks.
