Philadelphia Eagles: 5 takeaways from Week 2 preseason loss to New England Patriots
By Dan Parzych
Here are five takeaways from the Philadelphia Eagles second loss of the preseason to the New England Patriots on Thursday.
After two tough losses to the Pittsburgh Steelers and New England Patriots, the Philadelphia Eagles are just thankful that it’s only preseason with plenty of time to turn things around before that first meeting of 2018 against the Atlanta Falcons. Losing to the Patriots 37-20 the way they did may have been frustrating for the Eagles as a team, but luckily the whole point of preseason is preparing for the games beginning in September when they matter the most.
In other words, it would be ridiculous for Philadelphia to hit the panic button after losing for the second time in preseason on Thursday, although it would be great to see some improvement during next week’s game against the Cleveland Browns. Heading into the 2018 season, the Eagles are facing a whole new level of pressure since they will enter the year as defending Super Bowl champions, and as frustrating as it was to see them struggle at times against the Patriots, keep in mind that it will be completely different when key starters are healthy and playing.
Just like every other game, whether it happens to be preseason or the regular season, there are always plenty of key observations to takeaway from Philadelphia’s perspective. So with Week 2 of the preseason officially in the books for the Eagles, here are five key takeaways from their tough loss to the Patriots on Thursday, as they hope to clean things up before the final two games of August against the Browns and New York Jets.
