Philadelphia Eagles: 5 takeaways from preseason loss to Pittsburgh Steelers

2. Goedert heavily involved
Remember all of those fans that thought it would be ridiculous for the Eagles to go with a tight end early on in the NFL Draft since they were already in great shape with a strong group led by Zach Ertz? Well, it was only one performance, but Dallas Goedert is already showing signs of being in for a great rookie campaign when seeing how heavily involved he was for Philadelphia on offense against Pittsburgh.
No, the dropped pass shouldn’t have been made that big of a deal since all rookies make mistakes, but seeing Goedert catch four passes for 66 yards, including a 15-yard touchdown, makes it seem like Philadelphia made the right choice in the second round of the draft. Just the thought of Ertz and Goedert teaming up to give the Eagles two effective pass-catching tight ends is going to provide them with a major advantage on offense.
What’s even more terrifying to think about is these two tight ends have the potential to spend plenty of good years together as members of Philadelphia’s offense. All of a sudden, the losses of Trey Burton (free agency) and Brent Celek (release) don’t seem so bad after all for the Eagles.
