2018 NFL Power Rankings: Philadelphia Eagles begin preseason on top
By Dan Parzych
25. New York Giants
Around this time last year, the New York Giants were viewed as one of the early heavy favorites in the NFC to make a serious run at the Super Bowl when looking at how talented they were the previous season. Instead, the Giants would go on to become one of the biggest disappointments from the 2017 season by only winning three games, but at least it helped them land Saquon Barkley in this year’s draft.
For the first time in what feels like forever, Eli Manning will have support he can count on in the backfield thanks to Barkley to help take off some of that additional pressure off under center. Plus, with Manning already fortunate enough to have one of the league’s most explosive receivers to work with in Odell Beckham Jr. as his top target, New York’s offense has all sorts of potential heading into 2018.
On paper, the Giants could end up with one of the most talented teams in the NFL. But until they prove themselves worthy of getting back on the winning track, it only seems fair to place them at the bottom of this list for now. Once the regular season arrives, don’t be surprised if New York is much higher.
