2018 NFL Power Rankings: Philadelphia Eagles begin preseason on top
By Dan Parzych
18. Seattle Seahawks
For the first time in the Russell Wilson era, the Seattle Seahawks failed to earn a trip to the playoffs, with a horrendous offensive line and an aging defense being two of the key factors as to why. Not to mention, Wilson didn’t exactly have the best support in the backfield, meaning the Seahawks quarterback faced additional pressure of having to do most of the work himself.
When he’s on top of his game, Wilson tends to find his name in the MVP conversation, and had Seattle gone on to earn a trip to the postseason, that most likely would have been the case as per usual. Instead, Wilson was forced to watch the playoffs from home like the rest of his teammates, and what makes this situation even more frustration is how the Seahawks appear to be one of those mystery teams heading into 2018 as nobody knows exactly what to expect.
Between the defense parting ways with key players like Richard Sherman and Michael Bennett along with Wilson losing a top target on offense in Jimmy Graham, Seattle could be in for a year of rebuilding. But also, let’s not forget the Seahawks have a history of succeeding when their backs are against the wall, so maybe they will end up being a surprise in the NFC after all.
