2. Which receiver will step up?

With Alshon Jeffrey not likely to play due to his surgically repaired shoulder, the Eagles will want to get a look at some other receivers in this game. Mack Hollins is a player who has been billed as the top candidate to replace the departed Torrey Smith, who had a one-year stint with the Eagles. Hollins has the speed to run the outside routes, so this could be a good chance for him to showcase that speed.

Mike Wallace was signed this offseason as a veteran, and he too will get a chance to show that he can still play at a high level. Like Torrey Smith, Wallace was a burner in his prime, and he still has the ability to run the outside routes and beat defenders with his speed. He and Hollins will be battling for the third receiver spot.

One player that hasn’t yet had the opportunity to make his mark with the Eagles is Shelton Gibson. Gibson was drafted in 2017 and was given a roster spot, but he hardly played at all, mustering only two receptions. There is some talk at camp that Gibson looks like a different player (via Nick Fierro, The Morning Call) this year, flashing speed and better on-field awareness. He is a player that the coaching staff will have their eye on during the game.

The Eagles have a very good receiving corp, but it could be even better this year if even one of these players steps up to the plate.
