Philadelphia Eagles: Hall of Fame entrance by Brian Dawkins brings back memories
By Dan Parzych
Just like his time with the Philadelphia Eagles before each game, Brian Dawkins gave an epic entrance before his Pro Football Hall of Fame speech on Saturday.
When it comes to the most passionate players to ever play the game of football, the argument can be made that Brian Dawkins ranks near the top of the list after seeing his intense level of play over the years.
From his vicious hits on opponents to firing up teammates with amazing pre-game speeches, Dawkins brought a lot to the table throughout this career with the Philadelphia Eagles, and this weekend’s induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame was the icing on the cake.
In fact, 2018 in general is turning out to be a solid year for Dawkins since he helped the Eagles win their first Super Bowl in franchise history as an administrator to the team, which helped make up for the fact that he was unable to win one as a player.
Once again, Philadelphia fans proved this weekend they’re one of the best at traveling to support their beloved team when seeing how many people showed up to Canton in order to support their beloved safety.
Even more exciting, Dawkins decided to perform his amazing Weapon X entrance before his speech to help fire up the crowd, just like he would do before each home game when he was playing for the Eagles.
Dawkins was already considered one of the most popular athletes in the City of Brotherly Love, and seeing his passion on display during Saturday’s speech just adds to the list of reasons why fans love the safety.
Every home game, words couldn’t even describe how fired up fans would get seeing Dawkins pounce out of the locker room tunnel during introductions, and seeing him perform the routine in Canton brought back some great memories from his playing days.
After seeing the respect he earned across the league during his playing days, it seemed clear that it would only be a matter of time before Dawkins finally earned his spot in Canton as one of the greatest safeties the NFL has ever seen.
Watching Philadelphia win the Super Bowl was cool, but seeing Dawkins inducted into the Hall of Fame ranks right up there when it comes to the greatest moments in franchise history. Between winning the Super Bowl and Dawkins officially in Canton, it’s going to be difficult for the Eagles to top off the kind of year 2018 has been.
