5. Carson Wentz

Before anyone freaks out over the fact that Carson Wentz is only entering his third NFL season, and is coming off a serious knee injury suffered last December, keep in mind this selection is more so of potential when looking at his progress each year. In fact, the argument can be made that if Wentz never went down with that knee injury, the former first-round pick most likely would have gone on to win the MVP award over Tom Brady in 2017.

Prior to his injury, Wentz had tossed 33 touchdowns and just seven interceptions in 13 games for Philadelphia, showing just how special of a quarterback he truly is. And even though Nick Foles was a key factor in the team putting together an epic Super Bowl run, everyone knows the Eagles are his team, and as long as he’s healthy, the job is his to lose.

At the moment, Wentz has been doing all the right things in training camp, and appears to be heading towards starting in Week 1 against the Atlanta Falcons. Wentz still has a long way to go over the next month, but at least the progress he’s been making is a positive sign so far.
