After finally having a breakout year, could Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Nelson Agholor be in for his first Pro Bowl during the 2018 season?

Back in 2015, the Philadelphia Eagles had high expectations for Nelson Agholor after using a first rounder on the former USC star, but unfortunately the wideout struggled to make the transition to the NFL at first.

How bad was it for Agholor? Well, the fact that he only caught three touchdowns in 28 games over his first two NFL season shows why there was so much frustration surrounding Agholor with the Eagles.

In fact, the argument can be made that Philadelphia was even considering the possibility of swallowing the tough pill, and figuring out some sort of way to part ways with Agholor, even if it would have been extremely costly.

Luckily, the Eagles were willing to hold on to Agholor for another season to give him another chance to prove himself. And with Agholor getting the opportunity to be used more in the slot since Jordan Matthews was no longer part of the picture, turns out this was the best decision Philadelphia could have made for the wideout.

By putting in the hard work, Agholor finally looked like the first-round talent the Eagles had been waiting to see during his third NFL season in 2017 after setting career highs of 62 catches for 768 yards to go along with eight touchdowns.

Even better, Agholor helped Philadelphia accomplish the ultimate goal of bringing the team their first Super Bowl title in franchise history after an epic run in the postseason that consisted of them being underdogs in all three games.

Now, Agholor will enter his fourth season as a champion looking to build off his breakout performance from last year to give the Eagles their best chance of winning back-to-back titles.

It’s certainly not going to be easy, but if Agholor builds off last year’s success along with everyone else coming through on their end, why shouldn’t football fans feel confident about Philadelphia repeating?

As great as it was to see Agholor post the numbers that he did last season, the Eagles may need more from the wideout in 2018, especially if Alshon Jeffery is unable to go at the beginning of the season since he’s still recovering from rotator cuff surgery.

Missing Jeffery to start off the year may sound like a crushing blow, but also this would allow for other players, including Agholor, to step up in the No. 1 wideout’s absence. Plus, if this results in Agholor topping his 2017 numbers, he could end up adding another accomplish to his resume by earning a trip to his first Pro Bowl.

Then again, as great as it would be to see Agholor earn a trip to the Pro Bowl, it would be even better to see him have to skip it as a result of the Eagles playing in the Super Bowl for a second year in a row.
