Philadelphia Eagles: 5 storylines to follow for 2018 training camp

4. Status of Jeffery
Signing Alshon Jeffery to a one-year deal last offseason before rewarding him with an extension in the middle of the year was the best decision the Eagles could have made to improve their offense, and it paid off in a big way. Philadelphia made it a top priority in the 2017 offseason to make sure Wentz received major improvement in the wide receiver department for his sophomore campaign, and when seeing how Jeffery is going to be one of his favorite targets for years to come, fans can’t help but smile.
With that being said, one of the biggest surprises at the conclusion of last season was the news surrounding Jeffery and how the wideout played the entire season with a torn rotator cuff, which is amazing to think about when looking at the numbers he was putting up. Even after some concerns towards the end of the regular season about his lack of chemistry with Nick Foles, Jeffery came around when it mattered the most during the playoffs after finding the end zone three times between the NFC Championship and Super Bowl.
Throughout the offseason, Philadelphia knew there was a chance that Jeffery wouldn’t be ready to go for the start of the 2018 season since it would be cutting it close with his recovery time. Similar to Graham’s situation, at least the Eagles are willing to be smart by being patient with their star wideout.
