Even though he’s no longer a member of the Philadelphia Eagles, Chicago Bears tight end Trey Burton decided to acknowledge the Super Bowl champions at the 2018 ESPY Awards.

No matter what, the Philadelphia Eagles and their fans will never get tired discussing one of the greatest Super Bowl plays of all time in the Philly Special since it still doesn’t seem real that it actually happened in February.

There aren’t many coaches in the NFL that would have made the gutsy decision that Doug Pederson did with so much on the line, but also this play was just one of many examples as to how special of a team the Eagles had on their way to winning Super Bowl 52.

Thanks to their amazing play, Philadelphia has been nominated for three awards during the 2018 ESPY Awards, which is scheduled to get underway Wednesday night. And while the Philly Special happens to be one of the nominees in the Best Play category, Trey Burton‘s suit  that happens to acknowledge the epic play will go down as one of the biggest winners of the night, even if the Eagles as a team don’t actually win the award.

From Burton’s Twitter:

As Philadelphia fans know, Burton played a key role in the Philly Special since he was the one that tossed the touchdown pass to Nick Foles in the end zone, catching the New England Patriots completely off guard.

Over the last two seasons, Burton has slowly been working his way into becoming an effective pass-catching tight end in the NFL when looking at the impact he would make on offense for the Eagles when given the opportunity.

Playing behind other tight ends like Zach Ertz and Brent Celek hasn’t always been easy, but when seeing how his impressive play at times helped him land a solid contract with the Chicago Bears in free agency, it seems to have been worth it for Burton.

No matter what team he happens to play for, Burton will always have a special place in the hearts of Philadelphia fans since nothing can ever take away the fact that he helped bring the city their first Super Bowl title in franchise history.

Even better, it’s awesome to see Burton still show love for his former team since this seems to be one of those rare occasions in which the Bears don’t have that much of a choice other than to let it slide.
