The Philadelphia Eagles had to follow up to their tweet about Mikal Bridges after the Sixers traded the former Villanova star.

For weeks, there was plenty of speculation surrounding the Philadelphia 76ers potentially landing Mikal Bridges at No. 10 in the 2018 NBA Draft since the former Villanova Wildcats star seemed to be a perfect fit.

After playing a key role in helping the Wildcats earn their second championship in three years this past season, basketball fans in the City of Brotherly Love were beyond excited to see the Sixers end up going with Bridges in that No. 10 spot.

For a player that was already familiar with the Philadelphia area from his time at Villanova, joining the Sixers to remain local seemed like a dream come true for Bridges.

Unfortunately, all that excitement lasted about 20-30 minutes for Bridges after the Sixers pulled off a surprise trade with the Phoenix Suns, meaning all of that previous excitement about remaining in the area quickly went out the window.

Not to mention, the surprise trade involving Bridges left the Philadelphia Eagles in a tough position on Twitter, as they had to follow up with a message of their own after a previous post, which was kind of hilarious.

After congratulating Bridges on being drafted by the Sixers while joining Brian Westbrook as another Villanova graduate joining a professional team in Philadelphia, the Eagles felt it was necessary to post a follow up response. When seeing their reaction, it’s safe to say the Super Bowl champions nailed the response with a hilarious reaction.

As bad as it sounds, Philadelphia fans can’t help but feel bad for Bridges when seeing how excited he was to stay local by joining the Sixers, only to end up being sent to the Suns. Not to mention, it should also be noted that his mom actually works for the Sixers, meaning this has to be hard on her as well.

Either way, at least the Eagles were able to lighten the mood on the situation by providing Philadelphia fans with a good laugh over this social media post.
